I want to thank my subscribers from the bottom of my heart for your interest in Ron’s Reflections! When I started this journey, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’ve tried other writing platforms and had a personal website for a while, but the response to my Substack articles has exceeded my expectations. I hope I continue to provide content that keeps you reading and motivates you to share my work with others.
To that end, I significantly revised the About page of Ron’s Reflections, adding my bio and much more background information about why I write. This page will introduce me and my work to people with whom you might be inclined to share. Check it out and share it with your friends and associates who might be interested in what I have to say.
While I am grateful for all who have shown interest in my work, I am truly humbled by my paid subscribers; I don’t take your contribution for granted, and it’s an honor to have my work validated that way. I want as many people to read what I write as possible, so I promise the articles will always be free to read. Paid subscribers will be able to comment on articles if they wish, and as I learn how to navigate this space, I will try to find ways to add more value to a paid subscription.
One last thing: I’ve been an advocate for survivors of clergy sexual abuse ever since I met and befriended a woman in our church who experienced it and had her world turned upside down. I have prayed with her, encouraged her, and listened to her, and she, in turn, has taught me a great deal about the topic and how church leaders should confront it. My first substantive Substack article addressed the issue, and I refer you to it, whether you’re a new subscriber who has yet to read it or a long-time reader who is aware of it. My friend validated the article before I published it, and she shared it with her survivor support group, which means the world to me. Clergy sexual abuse is a deep crimson stain on the church, and we as Christians must do everything we can to cleanse it from the body and restore hope that the church will always do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with the Lord.
